Abstract

A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes, given at a conference or similar forum. Several lightning talks will usually be delivered by different speakers in a single session, sometimes called a data blitz. From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_talk

BCS has a rich and diverse membership, being the professional body of IT. The committee realises that we could learn as much from each other as from our invited speakers.

The evening will be an opportunity for members to share any topic of their passion (if they want to, of course!) The talk can be an idea, successful project, a cautionary story, collaboration invitation, quick tip or demonstration. Questions and discussions could follow the presentation. Each topic/ presentation/ discussion will be capped at a maximum of 10 minutes. You will be very welcome, whether you want to present an item, or merely to sit and listen to / comment on others' presentations.

To help us organise, please let us know your topic by email to: ipshing.fan@bcs.org.uk. If there’s sufficient time on the night, we welcome additional contribution without prior notice.

All good ideas will go into our 2019-20 programme and budget planning.
