Abstract

Internet of Things(IoT) is permeating our home and society. IoT at home includes smart meters, home comfort, appliances, security and other yet to be created ideas. IoT also enables Smart Cities in transportation, public works, waste management, security, disaster management and many more. The mobile infrastructure to support the Internet connectivity of the many, many devices is fundamental to the realisation of this future. This talks presents the current development and trend on mobile IoT, the opportunities and the challenges.

Barney Duffy is the Customer Solution Authority at Vodafone, working with Cloud based Unified Communications integrated with mobility applications & solutions, LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi design. In Building Mobile Coverage, & associated applications. IN call routing & handling.

John Blackburn is Control Systems Software Engineer at RACE - Culham Centre for Fusion Energy. He is working on advanced robotics in the challenging nuclear environment.
